METHODS OF APPLICATION |

BATH |
Dilute essential oils & synergies in alcohol, milk or carrier before adding to bath water. Some essential oils are fine undiluted but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Adding 3 - 5 drops of essential oil to 1/4 cup of Epson’s or Dead Sea Salt make for a very relaxing and detoxifying experience. Not recommended for children 12 years and younger. |
||
DIFFUSE |
Diffusing essential oils & synergies can help purify the air by removing metallic particles and toxins from the air, increasing atmospheric oxygen, and increasing ozone and negative ions in the area, which inhibits bacterial growth and destroys odor from mold, cigarettes, and animal and fills the air with fresh aromatic molecules. Diffusion is a safe way to use essential oils for children 5 years and younger, with the elderly and for pets. Please note, when diffusing around pets, always keep a door open so they can leave the room if needed. |
||
INHALATION |
E ssential oils & synergies can be inhaled directly from the bottle when used for the mind & spirit or when dealing with upper & lower respiratory conditions. The molecules absorb quickly through the mucus membrane of the respiratory system and enter the blood stream via the lungs. This is a great and easy way to prevent respiratory infections, relieve sinus congestion and help soothe a sore throat. Essential oils also stimulate the olfactory bulb and stimulate the pituitary gland to release hormones. |
||
TOPICAL (SKIN) APPLICATION |
Our skin is the largest organ in the human body and easily absorbs essential oils. Some oils, when indicated, can be used undiluted directly on the area of localized infection. Most oils, however, need to be diluted in a carrier oil. A 3% dilution is appropriate for acute health concerns such as respiratory issues or achy muscles, and a blend used to heal wounds such as cuts, burns, sores & ulcers can be both safe and effective at a 4 - 12% dilution. For a Full Body Massage, a maximum of 2% can be used but 1% is recommended. More specific instructions are to follow. |
||
Spray |
Adding essential oils & synergies to a spray bottle is great when working with someone who can not be touched, such as a sever burn, shingles (zoster) or wounds. A blend of 15 - 20 drops essential oil in a 60 ml (2 oz) bottle of distilled or sterilized water is recommended. Suggested essential oils would be lemon, lavender, lavindin (burns), german chamomile, geranium & tea tree. Having a mist bottle of essential oils can help freshen up a room prior to having guest over or as a linen spray on clothes and beddings. Another favorite would be using hydrosols which will be discussed at a later time. |

STEAM INHALATION |
Best used with upper and lower respiratory infections. Can also be used to nourish the skin of the face and neck. Add 1 - 3 drops of essential oil or synergy to a steamy bowl of water. Place a towel over your head and bowl, lean over the bowl and keep EYES CLOSED. Keep face at least 12 inches from the water to avoid overexposure, coughing and skin and throat irritation. Inhale up to 20 minutes. Asthmatic individuals should use caution when doing steam inhalations and use no more than ONE drop of essential oil. Not recommend for children under 10 years of age and with the elderly. Use a room diffuser instead. |
