Here are a few notes about Lapis use documented throughout history:
* The blue seen in the Funerary mask of King Tutankhamun is made out of Lapis (~1350 BC)
* During the Medici reign, There was a famous medallion carved out of Lapis that depicts a portrait of Cosimo de’ Medici (1500s). The family also intended plans to decorate Chapel of the Princes out of Lapis.
* Empress of Russia Catherine the Great, also called for and achieved an entire room made out of Lapis (1700s)
Renowned for its brilliant shade of blue, high profile leaders of civilizations throughout time sought after this stone to reflect royalty.
